There is a locality in Mumbai that has an address “Fort, Mumbai” or “Fort District”
But where is Fort ?
Fort has long gone in the 1860s. But there are stories that are still surviving and waiting to tell In this walk, we will be exploring the Bazargate area of “Bombay Fort,” which was one of the three gates of this walled city. This main gate stood near the present site of GPO
We will be cruising in the lanes while exchanging the stories about the communities that once lived here (Parsi, Bora, Shroff, Modi), Each trading community had its own enclave, own place of worship, and community institutions
We will also be talking about:
a long gone prison, one of the first courts of British India, oldest temple in Fort, one of the oldest Parsi Fire Temple, A Haveli, Phansi Talao (hanging place, where execution happens)
and lot more.
It’s a small and interesting walk, we are going to reveal so many hidden things and stories
