An Epic Journey Through:

Ramayana’s Kishkindha, Vijayanagara’s Jewel Hampi, and Chalukyan Grandeur

In this 4-day exploration, we’ll embark on immersive Walks and Baithaks.

WALKS

1. Hampi – Jewel of the Vijayanagara Empire

Walk through the ruins of Hampi, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. As we visit its architectural marvels, we’ll delve into the empire’s grandeur. Founded in the 14th century, Hampi thrived as a cultural and political powerhouse.

Legend has it that Hampi Bazaar was one of the most prosperous markets of its time, featuring large and shiny pearls, priceless stones, and high-quality silk. Merchants would simply cover their goods with red cloth to secure them overnight.

While exploring its grand temples and palaces, we’ll uncover the stories of a civilization that profoundly shaped Southern India’s history.

2. Kishkindha: Legendary Realm of the Ramayana

Hampi, known for its grandeur and the legacy of the Vijayanagara Empire, holds another treasure within its mystical landscapes—Kishkindha, the fabled monkey kingdom from the ancient epic, the Ramayana. Nestled amidst the rugged terrain of Hampi’s boulder-strewn hills, Kishkindha is believed to be the very place where Lord Rama met Hanuman and forged an alliance with the monkey king Sugriva to rescue Sita from the clutches of Ravana. This lesser-explored side of Hampi offers a spiritual journey through sites deeply intertwined with the Ramayana’s narrative:

– Anjanadri Hill
– Pampa Sarovar
– Sugriva’s Cave
– Vaali Fort
– Malyavanta Raghunatha Temple
– Kishkindha Vanara Caves

3. Badami, Aihole, Pattadakal: Historic Chalukyan Marvels and Cradle of Indian Temple Architecture

Located 150 km from Hampi, Badami is famous for its beautifully carved cave temples, hewn from striking red sandstone cliffs. These temples, dating from the 6th to 8th centuries, are celebrated for their intricate carvings and stunning artistry. The red stone enhances their visual appeal, creating a dramatic contrast with the surrounding landscape and showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship of the Chalukyan period.

4. BAITHAK

In the evening Baithak, we’ll delve into the stories of the rise of the Vijayanagara Empire, its glory and fall, the final days of Vijayanagara, and the rise of the Deccan Sultanates. Cliff Jumping, Coracle Boat Ride, Treks are not included in this but you’ll get enough time to do all these activities
